Hiking with dogs

In the nature of the Gsiesertal Valley-Welsberg-Taisten, your four-legged friend will feel right at home. To make the outdoor experience pleasant for everyone, please keep the following in mind:

•  Bring enough water and treats for your dog.
•  Respect nature by picking up any waste in dog waste bags and disposing of it properly.
• Since 2009, dogs in Italy must be kept on a leash, and there is an extended muzzle requirement. The muzzle must be carried, but does not always have to be worn. Pet owners are liable for any damage caused by their animal.
• Dogs are permitted on board, but must be kept on a lead throughout the journey and must not occupy any seats. As a general rule, dogs must wear a muzzle. Guide dogs are exempt from the muzzle requirement, but may be required to wear a muzzle if passengers or the on-board crew request it.
  Pets that can be carried in a bag or carrier suitable for transporting animals are considered as luggage and therefore travel free of charge.
  Pets that are not carried in a carrier require their own ticket for travelling with an animal:
  Single ticket: €2.00 for a single journey
  Day ticket: €3.50
•  Lift facilities: dogs are allowed in the cabins of the lift facilities. An extra charge is applied for them.

Entering Italy

For the entry to Italy you should absolutely consider the following points:

• The dog must have a valid rabies vaccination. It doesn't matter if it is the one or three year old vaccination, but it must be at least 21 days old.
• You must take your dog's EU pet passport with you.
