Paul Troger, born in Welsberg, is considered one of the most important painters of the Austrian Baroque. His distinctive “Troger blue” gives his works remarkable brilliance. Between 1738 and 1739, he created three major paintings for the Parish Church of Saint Margaret: the high altar painting and two side altarpieces depicting Saint Margaret, several saints and biblical scenes. These works are regarded as outstanding examples of Baroque sacred art.
The S. Margareth Parish Church is located in the centre of Monguelfo.
