38. Gsiesertal Valley Mountain Pasture Festival

Tradition, culinary delights and mountain views. Every year on the third Sunday in September, the traditional Gsieser Almhüttenfest attracts numerous hiking enthusiasts to the Gsiesertal Valley. The festival rotates between the three villages of Pichl, St. Martin and St. Magdalena, giving guests the chance to discover the alpine huts of the Gsiesertal Valley and experience the diversity of its mountain world. This year, the associations of St. Martin invite you to the 38th Gsieser Almhüttenfest on the Versellalm. The starting point is the village center of St. Martin. Walking time: approx. 2 hours. Elevation gain: 760 m. At 10:30 am, the solemn open-air Holy Mass begins, accompanied by the Pater Haspinger Musikkapelle. Visitors can look forward to traditional dishes, regional specialities and musical entertainment. Culinary delights at the huts: Randlhütte – Volunteer Fire Brigade – pressed dumplings with cabbage salad, Buchteln with vanilla sauce and coffee;Tolder Hütte – ASC Gsiesertal – dumplings and polenta with goulash, Strauben and coffee; Selmbacher Hütte – Young Farmers and Rural Women – barley soup, Tirtlan, roulades and coffee; Außerhütten – Läutergruppe – speck and alpine cheese, Weißwurst, Kniakiachlan and coffee; Stegile Schupfe – Pater Haspinger Musikkapelle – spareribs and grilled sausages with potato salad and bread, apple strudel and coffee; Kuhnahütte – Gsieser Nature and Culture Association – shepherd’s macaroni, Linzer slices; Kirchahütte – Pustertal Noriker Association – suckling pig with potato salad or served in bread, Kaiserschmarren. Children can look forward to an exciting treasure hunt. The Taistner Gaslkrocha will entertain visitors with performances at the various huts. Festival finale in the party tent.
