39. Gsiesertal Valley Mountain Pasture Festival

Tradition, local food and mountain views: every year on the third Sunday in September, the Gsiesertal Valley Alpine Hut Festival invites you to hike and celebrate. The festival rotates between Pichl, St. Martin and St. Magdalena, giving you the chance to discover different Alpine huts and views each year.

This year, the associations of St. Martin invite you to the 39th Gsiesertal Valley Alpine Hut Festival on the Versellalm. The hike from the village centre of St. Martin takes about two hours and climbs around 760 metres. The open-air Mass begins at 10:30, accompanied by the music brass band.

At the huts, you can enjoy traditional dishes, regional specialities and music. There’s a treasure hunt for children, and the Taistner Gaslkrocha perform at several huts. The celebrations continue in the party tent.

How to get to Gsiesertal Valley:

By car, follow the SS49-E66 to the Welsberg West exit and take the road into Gsiesertal Valley. It passes through Pichl and St. Martin before reaching St. Magdalena at the end of the valley.

By public transport, take the Pustertal train to Welsberg. From there, take bus 441 into Gsiesertal Valley, which stops in Pichl, St. Martin and St. Magdalena.
