The starting point is the Popena bridge on the access road to Lake Misurina. The trail first follows the Rio Popena gently uphill. Already during the ascent, you can admire the majestic Dolomite peaks – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – in all their glory. Further up, the valley opens up, offering stunning views of the Cristallino di Misurina and Monte Popena. At around 2000 m, the forest begins to thin out and the terrain becomes more open. The route continues to the Sella di Popena, where you enjoy a magnificent panorama of the entire valley and Lake Misurina. In good conditions, you can extend the tour to the Corno d’Angolo. The return follows the same route. Backpacking provisions. Difficulty: medium. Time: 08:30 am.-04:00 pm. Walking time: 4-5 hours. Altitude difference: 700 m. Route lenght: 10 km.
