From the Plätzwiese mountain inn, the trail climbs gently to the first junction, then continues flat across the meadows. It becomes steeper, passing the ruins of old fortifications, and leads up to Mount Strudelkopf with its imposing “Heimkehrerkreuz” (Homecomer’s Cross). At the summit, a magnificent panorama unfolds – from the Three Peaks to Mount Cristallo, the Cadini Group, Zwölfer, and many other peaks of the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage. The return route leads via the Dürrenstein Hut and its access road. Packed lunch or refreshment stop available.
