A special milestone for air sports: Hike & Fly has officially been recognised as a sport. To mark this occasion, the first official Italian Hike & Fly Championship will take place from 23 to 26 September 2026, set against the impressive backdrop of the Sesto Dolomites and the Gsiesertal Valley. Hike & Fly combines mountaineering and paragliding. Participants complete designated routes both on foot and in the air, reaching various so-called turnpoints along the way. Four exciting challenges are scheduled over four competition days. The exact routes will be adapted to the current weather and flying conditions. Programme: 23 September – Sesto: Task 1, start and finish at the sports facilities in Sesto; 24 September – Gsiesertal Valley: Task 2; 25 September – Gsiesertal Valley: Task 3; 26 September – Sesto: Task 4, final competition day with start and finish at the sports facilities in Sesto. On Saturday, 26 September, the awards ceremony will take place at the sports facilities in Sesto in the late afternoon. Afterwards, the Italian Championship will come to an end with a Closing Party for athletes, volunteers, fans and visitors.
